Cascaded hybrid/pv inverters

Hi everyone,

We have a system where there are two cascaded inverters but only the main inverter has a battery connected. I am wondering how to model this system in OpenEMS, any help would be appreciated. Here are the approaches we have tried so far:

  1. ESS Cluster: This does not work with only one battery.
  2. Two seperate ESS: This works most of the time but breaks with grid optimized charge and sometimes shows a “Not solved” warning.
  3. ESS + PV inverter: This seems to work, but not all manufacturers that are integrated as an ESS / hybrid inverter can also be added as a pure PV inverter.

So from our testing, I am assuming that it would be necessary to reimplement the existing inverters with PV Inverter nature. Can anybody confirm this?
