I’m currently building my smart-home system for my house. For energy management I wanted a system that is optimizing usage but at the same time is open and easy to extend (with my custom heuristics and custom adapters for my other devices like custom water heater integration etc.).
OpenEMS fit’s the bill and I already run it in my house in shadow mode. But I’d like to be able to get as much money as I can get out of my hardware so I’d like to take advantage of arbitrage opportunities on the spot market with my battery.
I found that there is some effort to add support for time-of-use-tarrifs: Energy Scheduler v2 / Time-of-Use-Tariff optimization (ALPHA) by sfeilmeier · Pull Request #3029 · OpenEMS/openems · GitHub but I did not see much activity there in the last 18 months.
I’m happy to continue working on this feature and publish my patches to OpenEMS upstream. But before I do, I wanted to ask if this is something that is aligned with the project’s vision? And possibly if there is some previous work that is not in code that would be good to know before I start working on this?
Either way OpenEMS is cool project and I’m super greatful that it exists
