BESS designs are very standardised, with efficiency of scale coming into the picture. Certain models, such as 125/261 kWh liquid-cooled ESS, are mass-produced. Manufacturers provide there propreitory EMS with software to monitor and control their BESS. I am building custom batteries in India and looking to build an EMS for such batteries, make it open source so it can communicate and work with other electrical systems such as solar installed in a manufactiring plant.
The key components of these batteries are
- Battery pack with BMS
- rack-level BMS
- liquid cooling system
- control system
- PCS
EMS will collect data from all these sources and provide monitoring and control from the dashboard.
