Hello,
Apologies for this slightly different question, but I could not find a clear answer in the forum.
I am supporting an NGO that, together with local communities, develops renewable energy solutions such as micro-hydropower and solar installations. We are interested in monitoring energy consumption at both a centralized level and on an individual household basis. Our ultimate goal is to help communities manage their energy consumption per household and establish fair billing practices accordingly.
Would OpenEMS be a suitable (even if only partially) solution for this kind of application?
Additionally, if OpenEMS could be a viable option, what type of hardware would you recommend for implementation? We have considered using local meters and centralizing data collection on small PCs (e.g., SBCs), but we are unsure about the best way to accurately measure household-level consumption. DIY energy meters seem risky in this context, so we would appreciate any recommendations on reliable hardware solutions.
Thank you in advance for your guidance!
